I love projects.
I also love bars. So, (during a period of relative sobriety) I walk into a bar ands ask to take a picture. The response is generally welcoming and boom I've my reference material. Then I make shit up.
Theres the odd bottle of Hendricks I placed on a shelf that wasn't really there and then I kinda tidy things up a small bit. My palette is guided by the blue I like that day...always guided by the blue. Blue is chosen first for glass, screens or windows, mentally, thats how I decide on my colours.
There are a good few weird thought processes involved in drawing and colour (now I think of it). I have to use the same pencil, pen and paper for a single project...and rubber. If any of these items go missing it's a horrible, tearful, tantrum of a search... time stops with the frustration and if 'said' items are not found, I'll MAYBE salvage the situation by buying replacements (I know, stock up? I never do) or I'll have to start something else.
I also work my life out by drawing. Problems are considered with a kind of distance. Maybe because the brain is so busy the stress hormones don't get a chance to engage in the conversation? It's a helpful process like dreaming.
Anyway, I'm not sure how it works but it does and it beats turning to the drink pretty much most of the time!
The exhibition goes up in the Builin Blasta (my favourite spot for an almond latte and a vegan wrap) next week! I've a few more bars to visit between now and then though.
Cheers me dears x
