I've spent most of my working life in restaurants which has been both pleasure and pain.
Pleasure because of the comaraderie, the social aspect and the wealth of knowledge that grows with food and wine service (and people in general).
Pain because sometimes it's stressful, sometimes people are difficult and sometimes youre just not in the mood.
Tonight I'm clocked off, it's quiet because of the rugby match and I'm scribbling in reception with a strong black coffee. Someone just called after leaving the restaurant an hour ago to tell us it's the best meal they've ever had. Things like that make me kinda teary because of the sheer loveliness of the gesture.
People can be so flipping amazing.
