My lovely friends Kerry and Mark from yumtreekitchen.com were good enough to give me some of their favourite christmas recipes which corresponded brilliantly with my new found love of the cocktail! I'll be sipping mine in front of the fire Christmas morning...
"There are probably only a couple of days a year where it’s appropriate to have a cocktail for breakfast, not that that should stop you.
You don’t want to be messing too much on Christmas morning so these recipes are relatively simple and don’t need peculiar liqueurs or specialist bitters or anything".

2 oz tomato juice
1 ½ oz vodka
2 tsp lemon juice
worcestershire sauce, to taste
salt and pepper, to taste
cayenne pepper, to taste
lemon wedge garnish.
This is the original 1930’s recipe from new york but celery salt and a celery stirrer have snuck in over the years, tabasco is generally used instead of cayenne. Poitin is regularly used in place of vodka and an oyster can be dropped in, if you like boozy oysters for breakfast at christmas or maybe a bloody Maria is more your thing, more hot sauce, lime and tequila instead of vodka.
Chai Tai latte

I made this one up but it should be perfect for a chilly christmas morning, (put some in a flask if you’re heading out).
1 black tea bag
250 ml milk
¼ tsp fennel seeds
1 green cardamon, split
¼ tsp allspice
¼ tsp cinnamon (or a small piece
of cinnamon bark)
honey, to taste
Bring the milk to the boil with the whole spices, take of the heat & add the black tea, cinnamon and allspice, leave to infuse for a few minutes..
Strain the milk into a cup and add the whiskey and honey.
